How Prisma became a leading voice
in general merchandise retail

Republic is a committed and results-driven PR partner that is genuinely enjoyable to work with. Together, we have fully leveraged the potential of earned media visibility and created discussion around topics that matter to Prisma. Our long-term and steadily evolving PR collaboration has been both inspiring internally and impactful externally.”

Prisma is Finland’s largest hypermarket chain, with its “everything you need” promise built on a broad and deep product assortment. Our task was to make that assortment’s appeal visible and strengthen Prisma’s position as an inspiring destination for fashion, home, and leisure shopping.

Our insight

Prisma’s extensive assortment is one of its greatest strengths, but in communications, you cannot showcase everything at once. We recognised that the key was to curate the hidden gems within the range, turn surprising finds into talking points, and connect them to people’s everyday lives and current trends. Thanks to its scale, Prisma has a unique vantage point on how Finns dress, decorate their homes, and spend their leisure time. This gives Prisma both the credibility and the mandate to take part in the conversation and help shape the agenda in general merchandise retail.

Our solution

We serve as Prisma’s strategic communications partner for general merchandise retail. Through media relations, PR events, social media, influencer collaborations, and content marketing, we bring the brand’s “everything you need” promise to life and turn retail topics into engaging cultural and consumer conversations.

By combining the client’s deep category expertise with our understanding of the media landscape, we identify stories that turn products and assortments into compelling content. Key communication spearheads have included Prisma’s own fashion and leisure brands, Antti Tapani, WKLY., and Luode12, which play an important role in strengthening perceptions of the assortment.

The broadest range within Prisma’s portfolio is offered under its own House brand. To elevate its profile, we created the House of House concept. As part of the campaign, two well-known personalities furnished identical studio apartments exclusively with House products from Prisma. The finished model homes were then put up for sale at the end of the campaign.

At the heart of the activation was a mini reality series documenting the transformation of the apartments and the stories behind their interiors. The series was Finland’s first vertical-format mini reality show. The campaign was amplified across social media, in-store channels, and national news media, bringing Prisma’s brand promise to life in a tangible way. It demonstrated that a stylish, personal, and inviting home can be created entirely with House products, making the breadth and versatility of Prisma’s assortment visible to consumers.

Our impact

Our long-term collaboration has multiplied Prisma’s visibility across both earned media and social media. We have expanded the network of journalists and influencers engaging with the brand while strengthening Prisma’s position as an authority in general merchandise retail.

The impact is also reflected in commercial results. Prisma remains Finland’s most visited brick-and-mortar fashion retailer, while Prisma.fi has grown to become the country’s third most-used online fashion store.
